No monkeys but Dolphins at Monkey Mia

Collected Steve from the nmine and drove straight into a menacing weather system.  By the time we arrived at Kalbarri we were glad to snuggle into our B and B and eventually dozed off to the sound of howling winds and driving rain.  Up for a nice brekky and chat to our very sweet hostess and drove down to the water to find it a cauldron with choppy seas and icy wind.  Having faith in a weather change we arrived at beautiful Shell Beach with the sun shining and then in Denham enjoying much better weatherconditions.  We surveyed our new surroundings and settled into our unit facing the ocean....perfect!  Next morning off to Monkey Mia and  the day blossomed into heavenly sunshine. Fortunately the dolphins returned after many of the visitors left leaving us with an amazing opportunity to get up close and personal. They were just delightful! A regular feature for the past 34 years but now their visits with humans is much more regulated. Unfortunately people began poking into their blowholes and eye sockets and their safety became compromised by tourists.  Now they are given a morning feed and then encouraged to move out to sea to do what dolphins do naturally.  A friendly pelican also began showing off and was also happy to pose for pictures.
