'Tis the seaon to be jolly

Not long now before I head back to Qld for Christmas with the family, but not before I celebrate the festive season here in Dongara with my friends.
Steve is committed to work at the mine and sadly he won't be joining me for my sojourn back east. Our planned trip to the South West has been postponed due to a change in his shift but we have every intention of making up for it when I return.....MERRY CHRISTMAS to all our blog followers and hope you all enjoy plenty of new adventures in 2010!!!

Heathers Highlights

After a long early morning flight and 5 hour bus journey, Heather finally arrives from Victoria.
We met in Cooktown and now both live in different states, so we have lots to catch up on.
We spend hours every day talking about our lives, our children s lives and life in general. Our exercise regime starts off at a cracking pace.....even talked her into joining me at the belly dancing classes, but we slack off after awhile...it is the Christmas season afterall!
It's been about 30 years since she's gone to the drive in, so that was definitely on the cards. Although the projectionist stuffed up and we only managed to see one movie, it was still a top night spent with some of the locals.
We did a few trips to check out the beautiful west aussie coastline (featuring the relentless wind) and I introduced her to the joys of opshopping. Shall miss her company.....

Kalbarri National Park

I thought the wildflower season had finished but there was another display waiting for us at Kalbarri national Park just 2 and a half hours drive north of Dongara. Driving through this area you get the feeling that some giant hand has reached down from the heavens and scattered millions of seeds from flowering natives and created a natural garden...awesome!
The gorges.....gorgeous, the scenery...nothing short of spectacular. We'll be back!

The Wedding!!!

Here comes the bride.....who blushed and laughed and cried! Tickk looked absolutely amazing as she came out of her bedroom to walk along the wide open verandah that Adrian had only just finished building a couple of days prior.
We had all woken early and spent the day cutting and fixing gum tree branches to exposed timber along with giant sprays of tiny roses and other flowering shrubs. Some lavender ribbons
strategically placed here and there and it looked a treat. I had the best time putting it all together.
It was the most glorious, perfect, warm, sunny day ( and I had bought winter woolies and a scarf to wear!)
There was laughter and tears all round, but especially when Adrian's 96 year dear old granny sang a wedding song that was sung at her wedding 73 years earlier...bless her. As her gentle voice wavered and echoed through the hills I was once again reminded of Mum and knew that she was also singing along that day, somewhere, in another place.
Congratulations Tickk and Adrian....after 15 years together you finally tied the knot!
